Chanderi a town of historical importance is located in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from it's quaint forts and hills, it is famous for hand woven cotton silk sarees and dress materials, known by the same name.
The word chanderi has become synonymous with the material cotton-silk. One can get handblock printed materials on cotton silk in other parts of the country too but somehow all are popularly known as Chanderi itself.
The percentage of silk used along with cotton in the material varies. The traditional techniques of printing and dyes used also vary.
